Jonathan Block is a native of New York City. During middle school and high school, he held top positions in the ISO and New York Youth Symphony, and attended the highly regarded summer chamber music programs Greenwood and School For Strings. In 2012, he performed the Bach Chaconne in a master class for Pamela Frank. For his four years at Stony Brook University, Jonathan studied violin with Eugene Drucker, and regularly participated in chamber music coachings with members of the Emerson String Quartet. As an undergraduate, he was a member the Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra, and he attended Aspen Music Festival, Bowdoin Music Festival, Sienna Summer Music Festival, and Round Top Music Festival. Jonathan performed the Prokofiev G Minor Violin Concerto with the Stony Brook University Orchestra in 2013, and got his Bachelors Degree there in Violin Performance in 2014. Since then, he has been a regular freelancer in the tri-state area, and has been a full time member of the Glens Falls Symphony since 2016. Jonathan has enthusiastically taught Kindergarten through college-level students privately since 2010, and also has experience preparing groups and individual students for their NYSSMA exams. Recently, he taught a class of 8 students at the LEAP Afterschool Program.
