Rules and regulations

 

Competition Date:

Date: March 2nd / March 9th, 2025. (March 9th will be added when March 2nd fills up).

 

Age Categories:

Young Musicians Category: 4 – 10 years old.

​Junior Category: 11 – 14 years old.

Senior Category: 15+ years old.

 

Application Deadline:

Early Application Deadline: February 1st, 2025.

  • Early Application Fee: $100 (Soloists).
  • Early Application Fee: $175 (Chamber Groups).

Final Application Deadline: February 15th, 2025.

  • Final Application Fee: $125 (Solists).
  • Final Application Fee: $200 (Chamber Groups).

*Application Fees are not refundable.

 

Repertoire Requirements

  • Perform a piece from the musical repertoire of your choice.
  • Performances are required to be played by memory, except repertoire from the late 20th to the 21st century.
  • The selected piece must fall within the realm of classical music (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and 20th/21st century periods), in its original, unaltered form (not derived from revised or abridged versions).
  • Performers must adhere to a dress code by wearing appropriate performance attire.

 

Live Audition:

  • Performers will compete in a live audition format. No video submissions are required- all applicants must perform live.
  • There will be a live jury, but no audience will be present during competition.
  • Location: Bloomingdale School of Music, 323 W 108th St, New York, NY 10025.

 

Winner’s Concert:

Date: March 30th, 2025.

Location: Steinway Hall, 1133 6th Ave, New York, NY 10036.

*While we encourage all prize and award winners to perform at the Winners’ Concert on March 30 at Steinway Hall, we understand that some competitors may be unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances. Regardless of participation, all winners must complete the registration process, which includes a concert participation fee. If you are unable to attend, please notify our staff to be excused from performing. Awards and certificates will be mailed to those who are not in attendance.

 

Winner’s Concert Participation Fee:

  • Participation Fee: $250 per participants (includes two guests).
  • No fee for collaborative pianists.
  • Seating is limited at Steinway Hall – there are only 74 seats available. For any additional tickets, please contact us. 

 

Live Audition Time Limits:

Young and Junior Musicians Category: Performances should be no longer than 5 minutes.

Senior Category: Performances should be no longer than 7 minutes.  

*Pieces may exceed the time limit; however, the jury will stop the performance once the allotted time has been reached. Repertoire does not need to precisely match the allowed time limit.

 

Judging and Jury:

  • Judges comments will not be disclosed.
  • Judges decisions are final and not subject to appeal.

 

Winners:

  • Several winners may be selected in each category.
  • A grand prize may be awarded for an outstanding performance.
  • Prize winners and special award winners will be required to perform at the Winner’s Concert. 

 

Reservations of Rights

We reserve the right to utilize, reproduce, and distribute the following materials submitted to the competition:

1.) Audio or video recordings.

2.) Names of participants, pictures, and videos from Live round auditions.

How to Apply

To apply for the VII Anselmo Academy Music Competition, participants must submit the following information at our competition registration page:

  • A completed online application form.
  • Application fee based on the selected deadline.​​

 

 

Awards and Performance

Participants will be awarded certificates, cash awards, and performance opportunities.


Young Musicians Category, 4 – 10 years old

​First Place: $250, Second Place: $150, Third Place $75

Additional awards may be given by the jury in categories such as Best Baroque, Best Classical, Best Romantic, Best 20th century, among others.

Honorable Mention Certificate for Participation to all contestants

Junior Category, 11 – 14 years old

​First Place: $300, Second Place: $200, Third Place $100

Additional awards may be given by the jury in categories such as Best Baroque, Best Classical, Best Romantic, Best 20th century, among others.

Honorable Mention Certificate for Participation to all contestants

​Senior, 15 – 18 years old

​First Place: $700, Second Place: $600, Third Place $500

Additional awards may be given by the jury in categories such as Best Baroque, Best Classical, Best Romantic, Best 20th century, among others.

Honorable Mention Certificate for Participation to all contestants

​Adult Piano, 19+ years old

​First Place: $700, Second Place: $600, Third Place $500

Additional awards may be given by the jury in categories such as Best Baroque, Best Classical, Best Romantic, Best 20th century, among others.

Honorable Mention Certificate for Participation to all contestants

 

Award prize distribution will be conducted via PayPal. We kindly request all winners to ensure they possess an active PayPal account for prize reception. It is essential that the email address linked to their PayPal account matches the one provided in their application form.


 

WINNERS will perform LIVE in person 

IN PERSON: March 30th, 2025 at Steinway Hall

 

The Anselmo Academy will also invite prize winners in special online features and broadcasts.
