Recitals Coordinator

Skylar Star is a songwriter based in New York, NY and San Diego, CA. Born and raised in Southern California, Skylar started her musical journey at the age of four when she first began learning piano. She was trained classically by Dmitry Kirichenko as a young pianist and performed at various classical festivals including the San Diego Bach Festival and the San Diego Sonata Sonatina Festival. She also participated in her school choir where she formed a love for the art of singing. Her passions for creative writing and music finally combined when she decided to study songwriting in college. Skylar studied for four years and graduated summa cum laude at Long Island University Brooklyn where she earned a B.F.A. in Music Technology, Entrepreneurship and Production with a focused concentration in Songwriting from the Roc Nation School of Music and Entertainment, as well as two minors in business and marketing from the School of Business. During her undergraduate years, Skylar was a member of GrammyU’s New York chapter, released a solo single under her given name Sky Star, and co-founded the songwriting group called Smokelines with a fellow classmate. This project led to many co-writing sessions, collaborations, multiple single releases and the release of their most recent EP titled Magenta Hills under the Smokelines moniker. She pursued graduate studies at Berklee College of Music where she is currently studying to earn an M.A. in songwriting, while continuing her professional songwriting career.
