SONYA BACH
Sonya Bach has appeared at some of the most prestigious concert venues in Europe, North America and Asia.
In recent years, Sonya made her London debut at the Wigmore Hall, followed by inaugural concert for the 42nd Cadaques International Music Festival in Spain, Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival in Germany, an invitation by the Catalunya Government to perform for the victims and survivors of Ravensbruck Women’s Concentration Camp and a tour with the Seoul National Symphony Orchestra.
Sonya is honored to be the first classical musician to perform at the newly inaugurated Community Theatre and Arts Centre in Dubai, UAE under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum.
Most recently, Sonya has recorded six of JS Bach’s Concertos with the English Chamber Orchestra at the Henry Wood Hall.
Sonya Bach started playing the piano at the tender age of three, gave first public concert at age five and orchestra debut at age nine with the Seoul Symphony Orchestra. She received musical educations at the Juilliard School and Accademia Pianistica “Incontri col Maestro” in Italy where she has been the youngest pupil of the late Lazar Berman.
A protégé of the late Alicia de Larrocha, she has earned Master in Spanish Music at the Academia Marshall in Barcelona, Spain.
Her numerous prizes include the First and Grand Prize as well as the Eugen d’Albert Interpretation Award 1st at the Eugen d’Albert International Music Competition, Gina Bachauer Memorial Award and the Special Prize at the 12th Viotti-Valsesia International Music Competition as the youngest participant.
