Zachary Mezzo is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, and educator based in Brooklyn. His work often explores and combines his love for unconventional sounds, chamber and orchestral ensembles, and electronic music. In addition to his concert pieces, he has also written for film, multimedia works, and even podcasts. Zach has a great passion for working with younger musicians and always makes sure to accommodate their interests and expand music education outside of the traditional classical music canon. Zach has worked with groups such as Imani Winds, Bearthoven Trio, New York Youth Symphony, JACK Quartet, and more. He recently finished his Bachelor of Music degree at NYU Steinhardt, where he studied with Michael Gordon and Justin Dello Joio. He additionally spent time in Paris studying electronic music at IRCAM and composition at L’École Normale de Musique de Paris. Outside of his own personal projects, Zach loves to collaborate as a performer and producer. He plays drums in the band Caused by Carelessness, and violin for the band Catcher.
