Burr Johnson has toured nationally with Jazz organist Jack McDuff, and can be heard with McDuff on many radio broadcasts. He has performed with Ron Carter (from Miles Davis) and the Brooklyn Philharmonic, with legendary artists Ray Charles, B.B King, Buddy Guy, Spyro Gyra, John Abercrombie, Rick Derringer and Larry Coryell. The Burr Johnson Band, who performed repeatedly at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival, has conduced many tours in the United States and Europe. Mr. Johnson performed with B.B King at the Montreux Jazz Festival before continuing on to headline the Manchester Jazz Festival.
Burr was commissioned to star in several music videos for companies like Terratech, Fishman and Graphtec. He has also worked with Pat Metheny, Laurn Hill, Jeff Berlin and Bernie Williams, and records and performs frequently in New Your City. He appeared in the major motion picture Beat Street and has done many national television commercials for QVC. Mr Johnson has developed several signature “Burr Johnson Model” guitars for Hagstrom, Visionary Instruments, and Aslin Dane guitars. He has won honors in several jazz competitions and has performed repeatedly in the Caribbean. He holds frequent guitar clinics to demonstrate the MIDI guitar technology that he helped develop and was on the development team for the Triple Play Midi guitar system. Johnson has performed annually since 1996 for the international NAMM show in Los Angelos, the Music Messe in Germany, and has been featured on CNN. His last recording of his fusion trio is called “What it is” (Lexicon Records).
