CHRISTIE KANSKA

Voice, Piano, Choir, Theater

Christie Kanska, born in Yerevan, Armenia, began her musical journey at the age of seven, studying classical piano. She later expanded her expertise by studying voice at the Jazz & Contemporary Music College, earning a degree in Fine Arts. In 2001, she moved to Boston, MA, where she completed her music degree at Berklee College of Music.

Christie’s teaching career has spanned various prestigious institutions, including the New Odeon of Thessaloniki, Filippos Nakas Odeion Conservatory in Greece, and Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music in India. She is also the founder of ZCK Music Academy & Recording Studios. An accomplished musician, Christie has toured worldwide and is a Grammy member. Alongside her husband, bass player, composer, and music producer Zdenek Kansky, she has composed and produced many albums. In 2020, she moved to New York, where she wrote and produced “Stay Home” and had the honor of performing at Carnegie Hall. She also became an official Steinway & Sons educator.

Her journey in music education has been diverse and rewarding, from directing choirs and teaching voice and piano to integrating technology into music education. As the conductor of a 150-student choir at the Harmony Program Summer Music Camp in NYC, she has demonstrated her ability to manage large groups and tailor instruction to diverse learning needs.

Her experience with the Carnegie Hall Educators Workshop, and her roles as Choir Director and Voice Instructor at the Harmony Program, have prepared her to develop and administer culturally responsive music education curricula.

Christie holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Professional Music from Berklee College of Music, a Diploma in Contemporary Singing from the College of Jazz and Contemporary Music, and a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts from the College of Fine Arts, providing her with a strong foundation in music education and pedagogy.
