EMMA WILBURN

Emma Wilburn is a versatile bassist, pianist, composer, and educator based in Brooklyn, NYC. She was born in Seoul, South Korea and raised in Sacramento, California. She fell in love with music at the age of 5 playing classical piano and picked up the bass at age 13. She is a recent graduate from Michigan State University receiving both her bachelors and masters in Jazz Studies. 

 She has studied with bassists Rodney Whitaker, Geri Pineda, Molly Redfield, and saxophonist Patrick Langham. Her main goals are to bend the rules and participate in creating a new sound of music while also continuing the legacy of jazz that the great jazz giants have passed down through generations. Emma has performed alongside Walter Blanding, Helen Sung, John Clayton, Dwight Adams, Carl Allen, Lisa Sung, Gayelynn McKinney, Patrick Langham, Steve Wilson, Donald Brown, Carmen Bradford, and Stefon Harris. Her main influences include Linda May Han Oh, Buster Williams, Paul Chambers, Michel Legrand, and Jackie Mclean.
