JULIAHNA PARK
Piano
Juliahna Park is a pianist, composer-performer, and devoted educator who is passionate about sharing the beauty of music with both students and audiences.
At the age of six, she received a paper keyboard at her very first piano lesson and spent the entire day singing her own melodies on it – an early glimpse of the innate musicality that has shaped her lifelong journey as both performer and creator. Ever since, she has played by ear, improvised, and composed with a natural sense of expression that continues to inspire her artistry.
Drawing on nearly twenty years of teaching experience, Juliahna embraces a nurturing and holistic approach that helps her students grow in skill, creativity, and confidence. To her, music is more than a discipline – it is a pathway to self-expression, spiritual grounding, and neurological growth.
Celebrated for her expressive depth, lyricism, and sensitivity, Juliahna brings emotional richness to every performance. As a soloist and chamber musician, she has appeared at renowned venues including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Steinway Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and The Juilliard School, and has participated in international festivals such as the Parnassus and Bowdoin International Music Festivals.
She was the winner of the South Orange Symphony Concerto Competition, performing as soloist in Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A Minor, and also received top prizes in the Westminster Choir College Piano Competition and the Korean Piano Teachers Association Competition. As soloist in Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy for the 200th Anniversary of the 1801 Sinyu Persecution, she performed with the Northeastern Korean American Catholic Choir in a concert that honored the spiritual legacy of Korea’s early Catholic martyrs through music. She has been listed in Who’s Who in Music and is a member of the Alpha Epsilon Rho Honor Society.
As a composer, Juliahna’s works span choral, orchestral, chamber, vocal, and solo piano genres. Her music has been described as pure, prayerful, emotionally rich, and healing – reflecting the presence of an elegant and expressive soul. Her compositions have premiered at The Juilliard School, the Society of African Missions, and St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Demarest, New Jersey.
She was commissioned by the Salesian Mission Youth Ministry (Reborn Young Christ) to compose an original sacred song, which has since been sung by students at RYC events for many years. One of her choral works was selected as the winning composition in an open contest commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Korean Martyrs Catholic Church in Saddlebrook, New Jersey, where it was performed and recorded as the parish’s official theme song. In 2023, her original song – both words and music by Juliahna Park – was selected in the CPBC Catholic Songwriting Contest in South Korea and became one of the most widely shared entries. Her sacred music continues to be performed by faith communities across the United States.
A versatile and collaborative artist, Juliahna is a founding member of Ensemble Caritas and continues to serve as organist for her parish while singing with the Archdiocesan Cathedral Choir of Newark. She began exploring the organ at an early age and later started accompanying Sunday School Masses – a devotion that continues to inspire her musical ministry today. In addition to arranging, improvising, and coaching ensembles, she has recorded music for Reborn Young Christ, the Society of African Missions Fathers, as well as her own original compositions and solo performances. Her artistic life remains deeply rooted in liturgical music and community-based artistry.
Born in Seoul and raised in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, Juliahna studied piano with internationally renowned pianists Ilana Vered, Martin Canin, Richard Fabre, Marina Municek, and Mitsuko Ichimura; composition with Andrew Thomas; and chamber music with Lewis Kaplan, Donald Lituchy, Jon Klibonoff, and Mitsuko Ichimura.
A graduate of the Juilliard Pre-College Division, Juliahna continued her studies with advanced status in the Columbia-Juilliard Exchange Program and earned a Bachelor of Music with graduate credits in Music Theory from Rutgers University. She was later invited to join Constance Keene’s graduate piano studio at the Manhattan School of Music. Bridging her dual passions for the arts and sciences, Juliahna also earned a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from Temple University and has professional experience as a clinical pharmacist.
Juliahna also enjoys writing and baking for her family and actively supports youth ministry and holistic well-being.
