Empowering Students Through the Joy of Music and the Arts

KIERA PEPPERS

Piano

Kiera is a music producer, teacher, and illustrator from the Northeast Bronx. Inspired by the music and artistry of Stevie Wonder, Art Tatum, and Chopin, she began taking classical piano lessons at the age of 17 where she performed in annual recitals for seven years. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from New York University, where she studied early childhood education and music theory with a focus on jazz.

Kiera taught elementary general music in the South Bronx for six years, specializing in teaching theory and piano skills through a multisensory, historical, and thematic lens. She believes there is a music lesson waiting to be explored around every corner, whether it is turning a pumpkin pie recipe into a composition or teaching piano technique through the life cycle of a butterfly.

In the summer of 2022, Kiera joined Jazz Lab NY to further her jazz piano studies and practice under the instruction of Russ Nolan. She is currently completing her Master of Music and Music Education degree at Teachers College, Columbia University, where she is honing her skills in early childhood music education and music production. She enjoys conducting field recordings, studying Bronx history, and tying it together through storytelling and illustration.
