
CHERYL BERARD
Piano
Cheryl Berard is a pianist and music educator. While growing up in South Florida, she performed with local orchestras and chamber groups. She holds a Bachelor of Music from Peabody Conservatory and a master’s degree in musicology from Florida State University. She earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Boston University, where she worked as a staff accompanist.
After finishing her graduate work, Cheryl became interested in teaching. She was a teacher and pianist for a series of community presentations given in New York City schools. She held the position of Music Director for the Brooklyn Narrows Community Theater’s production of The Music Man. Cheryl has performed at the Smithsonian Institution and Langston Hughes Community Library, among other venues. She currently teaches piano and music theory to students in Queens and Manhattan. Her approach to music education emphasizes creativity, enjoyment, and the healthful development of applied skills.
