
JAVED WONG
Violin
Javed was born in Hong Kong and began studying the violin at the age of five. He later received the Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarship in recognition of his outstanding performance and was admitted to the Junior Program at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. After graduating from secondary school, he continued his music studies in New York, earning his Bachelor’s degree from the Mannes School of Music with honors and his Master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music. Javed has actively participated in a wide range of local and international competitions and music festivals. Because of that, he has performed at renowned venues including the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Hong Kong City Hall.
In addition to his performance career, Javed is deeply engaged in music education and research. He recently graduated from Teachers College, Columbia University, with a second master’s in music and music education, and received initial certification. Serving as an Evalyn Edwards Milman Music Teaching Fellow, he has provided general music education, orchestral coaching, and string instrument instruction across several public schools in New York City. Javed has also collaborated with international professors and music scholars on various academic publications regarding the music industry, including Women Leaders in Orchestras, Opera Companies, and Other Music Institutions and Arts and Culture in Hong Kong: Interviews with Leading Arts Administrators, Educators, and Producers (forthcoming in 2025).
Javed currently serves as the music teacher at P168X, a public school in New York City.
